analysis of variance (ANOVA)

A parametric statistical test associated with the general linear model in which the dependent variable has either interval or ratio measurement and the independent variables are measured at the nominal scale. The sample of individuals is divided into categories and ANOVA tests whether there are significant differences among the means for those categories on the dependent variable. (RJJ)
